Royal Productions is about bringing you true stories about Queens, Kings and noble leaders from Africa and the Diaspora, who made their mark in history, which in turn is and has always been our story to tell with pride. The purpose of Royal Productions is not only to entertain and educate through these stories but to also raise awareness of these powerful stories as it is not easily found within the education system and mainstream media. For this reason, I thought it would be brilliant to showcase these stories of African and the Diaspora greats in a theatrical setting, as theater is a beautiful way to bring people together and see the story unfold in real time. This particular play is a beautiful example of this, and one which carries extra importance as the proceeds will be used to buy land and build a brand-new Bella Rehabilitation Center school in Nairobi, Kenya.

After volunteering for a self-development and creative workshop for 10 days at the school in partnership with the Make A Step organisation in 2017, we were amazed with what the teachers had to do to make sure the students had a chance of education, whereby they stand a better chance of a better future. During that time, we learned that their former school building had been demolished by the government without any chance to prevent it from happening. Sadly, they lost some students in the process, who most likely will not have a chance of education because the previous school was demolished and it had taken a while to get a building to teach the rest of the children who could travel to the new location.

They do not own the site they are currently using, therefore is not their permanent residence. Because of this they are subjected to constant threats of removal and are getting notices to either pay the new payment plan or leave. This situation has created uncertainty and worry amongst the students and their parents as they do not have the funds to upkeep the new payment plan and would like to own their land, where they cannot be told to move. The main end goal is to reach a stage where the teachers and students can teach and study in peace without the fear of being moved again and potentially losing more students in the process.

The students and teachers touched our heart with their story of perseverance, resilience and hope for a better future, which ignited Royal Productions Play and the Make A Step organisation to make a big and positive impact in their lives.

The first Royal Production Play will be about Queen Nzinga from modern day Angola. She was born in a treacherous time as her nation was under colonial attack and on the brink of destruction. Though she was born in such testing times, Queen Nzinga cemented her name in Angolan and world history forever as her powerful story is one of resistance, resilience, leadership, innovation and one that ultimately achieved freedom for her people.

We hope you can join us, and look forward to seeing you enjoy the play. Your efforts will help us to support the teachers and students of Bella Rehabilitation center school. We are thankful, grateful and appreciate your support.

Love and blessings!!!
